As the world and the way we communicate changes, the way you drum up sales prospects needs to change as well. The internet and all its various applications as well as advances in telecommunications all have their uses for sales prospecting. Car Sales Training Tip One: Communicate via E-Mail Just about everyone uses email in their daily life. From shopping to banking and personal and business communication, it has quickly become the way to communicate in the world. As a salesman, there is no better tool for communicating with your prospects. 1. Send out marketing materials using mass emails. Today it's easy to get your hands on email lists or to build them yourself. Use these to communicate with prospects about promotional activities. 2. Instead of placing phone calls to set appointments, use email. Most people now have access to their email everywhere they go, so using e-mail to set-up appointments is quick and easy. 3. A personal thank-you or follow-up goes a long way. Use email to quickly get your thank-you and additional information to the prospect. Automotive Salesmen Tip Two: Using Text Messages Some doctor's offices now send out text messages to remind you of an upcoming appointment. Why not do the same with your prospects? A quick text message to them to remind them of an upcoming meeting is a fast way to keep in touch. You can also send out targeted texts to prospects about sales or other promotional events. Text messaging is quickly becoming an important part of doing business today. Automotive Salesmen Tip Three: Host a Website In spite of the obvious success of the internet, not everyone has jumped on the bandwagon. Every company should have a website that has marketing materials specific to their target clients and that includes automotive salesmen. The possibilities here are actually endless. Automotive Salesmen Tip Four: Blog It Almost everyone is familiar with the concept of the blog. People use them to journal their personal life or discuss current events. There is another use for the blog though. You can have a blog dedicated to your business. Updating it frequently and linking to your dealerships website is a great way to let prospects get to know you and your product. It's a great jumping off point for building rapport and confidence. Cut the time you spend trying to contact prospects in half through the effective use of current technology. About the Author: Atten: Car salespeople. Mak has many more tips and strategies.
